History of the School

St. Francesca Cabrini herself established the school in London just over 100 years ago. Francesca Cabrini was born in Sant’Angelo, Lombardy, Italy in 1850 and founded the order of the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart in 1880. The Missionary Sisters’ mission to ‘educate the heart’ of each child to reach their full potential and to support and help the poor and marginalised in society forms the strong foundation of the work we do at St. Francesca Cabrini School. We believe this gives our school a distinctive character.

The school in London is one of many worldwide institutions established by the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Other institutions include schools, colleges and hospitals in Spain, U.S.A., Argentina, Australia and Italy. This is alongside refugee projects throughout the world and missionary projects in Ethiopia and Swaziland. The school is in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Southwark.
